As the world continues to progress, people continue to find new ways to save energy and protect the environment. Officials in California seem to have found another new way to save energy in the state. According to VentureBeat, the state of California is very close to adopting policies that will aide computer energy saving. Environmentalists everywhere are very excited and intrigued by this news.

The news of this energy saving plan will be very beneficial in several different ways. The plan is modeled by one used in the city of San Francisco.  Computers and monitors use up about 3% of residential and 7% of commercial use in California. Cutting idle usage will allow the state to save a lot of energy. Executing this plan statewide would cut emissions of greenhouse gases by about 700,000 a year. VentureBeat is also reporting that the plan would save people of the state an estimated $373 million dollars annually.

The National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) is working closely with the California Energy commission to make this plan a reality. The idea was first proposed in March of 2015, and since then they have been trying to make the idea a reality. VentureBeat is also reporting that the NRDC is working to make the plan as inclusive as possible. Officials want the plan to include more updated computers so that businesses and people with more modern models will not be able to take advantage of loopholes.

The environment and energy saving are things that need to be taken seriously in the United States over the next several years. If people want to save the environment, they must do their part to make sure that the country is being conscious where it can be. California is not only doing well for itself. but setting an example for the whole Untied States.
