Last night, Dancing with the Stars 23rd season finale win went to gymnast Laurie Hernandez and Valentin Chmerkovskiy. Although the finale had an adequate viewership audience, the episode reportedly had a 25% viewership drop compared to last season’s finale.
Dancing with the Stars 23rd season finale episode had over 10.93 million viewers. Although the show’s 22nd season finale episode had 10.5 million viewers, but only had a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic age.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, The Middle gathered 6.83 million viewers and a 1.6 demo rating. ABC’s new show American Housewife had a good start, but recently their viewership is steadily dwindling down at 6.13 million viewers.
Usually, the days before Thanksgiving networks expect to have lower viewership ratings. The low viewership trend has seemed to continue for all broadcast and cable programs.
Reportedly, NBC’s The Voice was off a few tenths in their demographic ratings. This week’s The Voice episode brought in 8.96 million viewers but had a 1.9 demo for the 18-49 age group. Chicago Fire has dipped down to a 1.5 demo for their 6.44 million viewers.
Although NBC has been racking better viewership ratings for the 18-49 demographic due to the success of This is Us series. The new fall show has reportedly had a constant 2.4 demo rating for their preferred viewership age group.
CBS’s NCIS might have brought in 14.85 million viewers, but their 18-49 demo only ranked in at 1.9. CW’s The Flash pulled a 1.1 demo rating with 2.94 million viewers. Allegedly viewership demo numbers for selected CW shows have been higher than Fox’s ratings.
TV networks are expecting their top shows to have a 50% percent lift in viewership ratings. Although more TV goers are eliminating their cable subscriptions and less viewers watching show’s live on TV. Networks are allegedly assuming that the rise in popular digital platforms are lowering their live viewership numbers.
For now, networks are worried that they might not have the numbers they needed to make their affiliate broadcasters and advertisers happy.
