It seems racing games can finally get a spot back in the eSports world. Formula E in partner with Cloud Sport have announced that they will be hosting a racing competition titled “Road to Vegas.” The competition will feature 20 Formula E drivers as well as 10 of the best virtual racers from around the world battling it out for the biggest prize in eSports history.
The event will take place on January 7th at Las Vegas’s Consumer Electronics Sow (CES). Formula E will pit 20 FIA Formula E drivers against the top 10 qualifiers from the Road to Vegas Championship.
The players will be using Playseat gaming rigs suited with the latest rFactor 2 racing simulator engine. Cloud Sport will be in charge of regulating the event and making sure that the races are as realistic as they can be.
Formula E has just released the full breakdown of the prize pool:
1st place: $200,000
2nd place: $100,000
3rd place: $50,000
4th place: $42,500
5th place: $35,000
6th place: $32,500
7th place: $30,000
8th place: $27,500
9th place: $25,000
10th place: $22,500
11-30th place: $20,000 each
Pole: $25,000
Fastest lap: $10,000
These prizes are so high that even if you place 30th in the event, you are guaranteed to leave with $20,000 in your pocket.
Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag said the following about the tournament in a statement:

This tournament announced comes very soon after the success of the Forza Motorsport Racing Championship that was held last month so it is sure to get the attention of big racing fans, especially with such a large prize pool.
