During the final presidential debate last night, Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, was asked how he would go about dealing with the border security. Trump responded by saying that his first priority will be to get “drug lords” along with all other undocumented immigrants out of the United States.
The immigration issue within this country has been ignored during the first two presidential debates. Trump promises to build a large wall disconnecting Mexico with the United States. He is also “questioning the qualifications of a U.S. federal judge” that was born in the United States, but is of Mexican heritage, USA Today explains. After this topic led into Russia’s involvement in this year’s presidential election, the topic was quickly dropped.
The Democratic Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, stated her thoughts on the topic by explaining that she too supports the plan for border security, but she does not agree with the deportation of illegal immigrants. According to USA Today, she explains that in order for us to successfully deport all illegal immigrants from the country, they would need to send federal agents “’school to school, home to home, business to business’” to round up the nation’s eleven million undocumented immigrants and ship them home”. She claims that she believes doing so would tear the country apart.
Trump argues that her statement allows immigrants to “flow” into the United States without much hassle.
On the topic of illegal immigrants, they also fought about what would happen with people who finding home in the United States to escape the Syrian wars. While Trump is completely against the fact of them entering the country, Clinton wants to greet them with open arms. She finds it “imperative for the country to maintain an open door for those who are running for their lives”, Clinton states during last night’s debate.
The final debate has concluded. Now it is time for the country to decide who would make the better president. While both presidential candidates have a fair argument in the topic, Americans must now question which one’s argument is more beneficial to the United States’ well being.
