According to People.com, though the President-elect and West are “friends”, a person close to West revealed that “Trump’s people never even asked” him to perform at the January 20th inauguration.
The source said that after the President-elect was chosen, West had a meeting with him the following December.
A representative of Donald Trump revealed that “The President-elect and Kanye are old friends and they discussed a wide range of topics. It was a good discussion.” West followed in a tweet with saying that “they met to discuss multicultural issues. These included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future president if we truly want change.”
An outlet, Tom Barrack, reported to Mail Online that Trump has had a difficult time getting artists to perform at the event. Although Toby Keith, Jackie Evancho, The Rockettes, and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir are set to perform, artists such as Jennifer Holliday and Andrea Bocelli pulled out of their spots. Even further, Elton John and Celine Dion reportedly declined invitations to perform.
