24 Islamic State militants were shot and killed by Egyptian security forces in Sinai, just 40 miles from the scene where the Kogalymavia Flight 9268 crashed, causing the death of more than 240 people.
On Monday, November 16, Egyptian security forces found the ISIS members hiding in a mountain cave. Twenty-four of the militant extremists were killed and eight were captured, security sources said.
A military spokesman denies that the incident happened.
During the ongoing investigation of the Russian airliner’s crash, many questions have been raised. ISIS has claimed the responsibility of bombing the plane, causing it to crash.
Egypt stresses that the theory of ISIS infiltrating the flight staff members and placing a bomb on the plane is premature and only a theory. No actual prove has been given in the case.
The Sinai Province is considered a branch of the Islamic State militants. The Northern part of Sinai had an ISIS-launched insurgency resulting in the death of hundreds of police officers and soldiers.
