$32 Billion Has Been Pledged to Charity by a Saudi Prince

The best thing about philanthropy is that it can be found in the most unexpected of places. Now, the Middle-East is known for the plentiful capital they possess from the oil trade. However, what they really do with their money isn’t exactly charitable.

With gold Lamborghini’s and bejeweled walls within mansions, charity is one of the last things you will find them associate themselves with. However, one such Saudi Arabian is here to simply be unconventional.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud has made a fortune throughout his lifetime by investing in several American, European and Middle-Eastern trades. Alaweed Philanthropies, of which he is a head of, stated that the prince wants the money he has earned to go to humanitarian causes after his death.

The prince said,

“Philanthropy is an intrinsic part of my Islamic faith. With this pledge, I am honoring my life-long commitment to what matters most — helping to build a more peaceful, equitable and sustainable world for generations to come.”

Apparently, the prince is ranked number 34 on the Forbes richest people in the world list. Hopefully, other privileged people follow his exemple and decide to help the world a little bit more.
