On Tuesday, November 24, seven children were killed while playing with the tip of a rocket. Two others were hurt.
The Kabul children had been playing with the tip, wrapping it up in a cloth and throwing it around when it went off. The rocket tip had been left behind a long time ago, and no one seemingly saw it as a threat, Kabul police Chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said.
All the victims of the rocket tip explosion were aged 10-14.
Afghanistan was plagued by several incidents this past Tuesday. Besides the tragic explosion killing seven children, three people were killed when a pressure-cooker explosive detonated in Kabul, Interior Ministry spokesman Sediqqi said.
Also on Tuesday, Afghan political analyst Ahmad Saeed was shot down by unknown gunmen. Saeed was rushed to the hospital after the shooting in the volatile Asian nation’s capital.
Six civilians were killed in two explosions in the Afghan capital. A helicopter carrying both Afghans and foreigners crashed in a Taliban area. Three of the people in the plane crash who died were ISIS soldiers. 15 of the people on the plane were taken hostage, including two Americans. This also happened on Tuesday.
Since the 9/11 attacks in New York in 2001, Afghanistan has been heavily plagued by violence. After the ISIS outbreak, the country’s situation has only become worse.
