A Love-Hate Relationship with IKEA

Most people hold a love-hate relationship with IKEA. The furniture and accessories store has found its way into our homes at one time or another. You have to admit, their prices and modern style have an undeniable lure, yet you are never pleased with all of your purchases or even the trip to the store. IKEA, like any other store, has its pros and cons. Nonetheless, you somehow always come back for the details that IKEA pays attention to- the little things that just capture your shopper, creative and hunger spirit.

Love: The cheap prices.
You know you are going to be getting great looking furniture for affordable prices if you go to IKEA.

Hate: The furniture does not last too long.
The furniture, depending on what you purchase of course, may not last very long. You get what you pay for in these terms.

Love: The store designs.
The way the furniture is displayed in the small living spaces makes you want to move there, and it just makes their various design styles very impressive.

Hate: The store designs making you want to re-do your entire home.
However, the amazing room designs make you want to re-do everything going on in your house. Up until the moment you visited IKEA, you were satisfied; now you have new ideas that you need more money for.

Love: The food.
The chocolate bars by the cashier, the cheap hot dogs  ice-cream and of course, the delicious Swedish meatballs. One of the things IKEA is well known for is those meatballs and people sometimes visit the store just for that.

Hate: Having to look for and pick up the pieces.
You see what you want, you write down the number, you go and search for it in the stocking area and hope that all of the pieces you need and want are there. You kind of wish that the pieces all came in one box and were right next to the display where you originally found the dresser.

Love: The creative freedom and inspiration.
IKEA promotes the use of your imagination. The designs inspire you to do a lot with as little and as much space as you may have available to work with at home. Plus, it gives you tons of options.

Hate: Having to put the furniture together .
It’s not a secret that no one really enjoys putting together all of the small pieces that the furniture from IKEA requires. As a matter of fact, most people hate it.

Love: The way it makes you feel.
In the end, IKEA makes you feel great about how it helps rooms in your home come together and how it can also satisfy your appetite.

About Alison Cordero

I enjoy wandering and getting lost because that's the only way to discover new aspects about people, places, things and most significantly myself. I find inspiration in the various elements of travel, history, sports, fashion, music, movies and food. Writing is one of the most rewarding means for me to share my enthusiasm for the details of those inspirations.
