AnnaSophia Robb is expected to star in the Lionsgate supernatural drama film Down a Dark Hall.
Rodrigo Cortes is expected to direct Down a Dark Hall, which is also set to star Isabelle Fuhrman. The film, which has been in the developmental process for two years, has reportedly begun filming in Barcelona.
Lionsgate acquired the project in 2014 with Stephenie Meyer, who is the esteemed author of the Twilight novel series. The Twilight franchise producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are also on board to produce Down a Dark Hall. Adrian Guerra from Nostromo Pictures will also act as a producer for the new film.
The film is based on Lois Duncan’s 1974 novel. Stephenie Meyer and Meghan Hibbett are producing the new film under their Fickle Fish Films production studio. Bowen and Godfrey will also act as producers under their Temple Hill Entertainment banner. Meyer reportedly optioned the book to Lionsgate back in 2013.
The Fickle Fish production banner helped produce Meyer’s The Host and Austenland films. Meyer was also an active producer during the final two Twilight films.
Temple Hill Entertainment has not only produced the Twilight franchise but has also produced the hit film The Fault in our Stars, which starred Shailene Woodley. The production studio also produced the Maze Runner film franchise.
Down a Dark Hall follows a new set of students at a boarding school who confront their supernaturally powered headmistress. The students then come face to face with the headmistresses supernatural abilities that could kill her or make her all powerful.
Issac Klausner of Temple Hill Entertainment will act as an executive producer with Nuria Valls of Nostromo Pictures. Rodrigo Cortes is known for directing Buried, which was bought by Lionsgate after the film’s Sundance premiere, and Red Lights.
AnnaSophia Robb has recently acted in CW’s The Carrie Diaries and Soul Surfer, which portrayed shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton. Robb currently starred in 2016’s Freak Show and PBS’s Mercy Street series.
