Apple has taken a bold move to ensure that the best apps are optimized for the iOS platform. The San Francisco-based tech giant has decided to open what they’re calling the first-ever iOS Developer academy. Here students will be taught how to develop apps specifically for Apple devices.
The academy will be opening in the pre-existing university, Università di Napoli Federico II in Naples, Italy. However, it is open to any and all students across the globe. Those who are interested in attending this year will have to move quickly though due to the enrollment being limited to only 200 students for the first year. Apple has stated that they plan to increase the enrollment size each year with next year being double (400 students) the size it is this year.
The lucky 200 that will be accepted into the academy this year will be learning valuable skills such as coding, creating their own apps, the ins, and outs of the iOS platform, as well as having possible hands-on time with the latest Apple equipment. Students will also have access to Xcode’s graphical debugger which will allow them to fine-tune their applications to ensure they’re optimized before release to the public.
Italy is understandably not accessible to all aspiring developers looking to hone their skills further. Apple realizes this and is currently planning to open many more academies across the world to allow the next generation of iOS developers to be even more exceptional than the current one.
The courses available through the academy are set to make their debut this October 2016. More information on the program and how to apply can be found on the university’s official website. More in depth details are expected to become available as the first day of classes approach.
