An “atypical” case of bovine spongiform encephalopothy (BSE), also known as mad cow disease, has been confirmed Tuesday in an 11-year-old beef cow in Alabama, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Luckily, the animal had never entered the slaughterhouse and “at no time presented a risk to food supply or human health.” A news release by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries reveals that the sick animal was found during routine surveillance at an Alabama livestock market, where it died. To their disbelief, it was a lump of 17 contact lenses glued together by mucus, the doctors reported in BMJ, a medical journal. Upon further examination, they found 10 more lenses…

More than 400,000 people participated in the studies over a span of about 10 years. The studies reveal that consuming artificial sweeteners didn’t help the participants lose weight. Instead, they demonstrated that people…

Posted on: 17 Jul 2017

The United States is temporarily putting a halt on attempts to rescue large whales trapped in fishing gear as a result of a recent whale releasing incident that left a fisherman dead. Joe Howlett, founder of the Campobello Whale Rescue Team, was killed Monday after freeing a trapped North Atlantic right whale, an endangered species, off the coast of the Canadian Province of New Brunswick. Once Howlett successfully cut the last piece of rope off the entangled whale, the marine animal did a flip and struck the fisherman. As of…
