Bernie Sanders, the Senator from Vermont who voters have grown an admiration for his socially progressive policies, has just about thrown in the towel. The presidential candidate went on C-Span Wednesday and admitted that he will likely not be the Democratic nominee. Donald Trump urged Sanders to stay in the race at a Las Vegas Rally on Saturday. “Crazy Bernie,” Trump said of the Vermont senator. “He’s crazy as a bed bug, but he doesn’t quit.” “He’s waiting for the FBI to do what everybody thinks they’re going to do,” Trump added. “I think he’s saying, ‘Let’s hang in there because its ultimately called the FBI… We’ll see if the right thing happens. Everybody knows what the right thing is.” Trump has been vocal about backing Sanders in hopes of winning over his voters for the general election against Hillary Clinton.
“It doesn’t appear that I’m going to be the nominee, so I’m not going to be determining the scope of the convention,” Mr. Sanders said, adding that he has reached no agreement to endorse Mrs. Clinton but has been negotiating with her campaign. “What our job is now is to have her listen to what millions of people in this country who supported me want to see happen. We’ll see how that evolves.” Sanders has been in strong opposition to Trump’s policies and remarked how the Republican nominee’s campaign is being run on a stance of bigotry. Unfortunately for Trump supporters, a Clinton endorsement from the Vermont Senator is more than likely if not. Though Sanders rejects a lot of Clinton’s policies, he would much rather see Trump be stopped November 1st. Sanders said that he has known Clinton for more than 25 years and is confident that she can create as much of a progressive scale as possible transforming the Democratic party.
