According to E! News, the executive producer of Jane the Virgin, Jennie Snyder Urman, is set to produce a TV reboot of Charmed via The CW. The WB series ran from 1998 to 2006, and The CW has recently ordered a pilot script for the planned reboot.

In addition to Snyder’s work, Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin will be penning the script. There have been rumors circulating around a series revival for a while now, and the original cast has expressed interest in returning.

However, the reboot, which according to E! News will be called a ‘re-imagining’, will feature an all-new cast of three young witches in 1976 New England, following them as they battle personal and societal (and evil) forces. Other reports claim that the series may serve as a prequel to the original.

The original cast reacted to this choice very well, with Holly Marie Combs stating, “We wish them well” and Alyssa Milano saying, “There are no fans like you. You’re the best of the best”.
