Officers of the world are expected to hold everyone to the same standard, no matter what their social status is. In a recent situation, the pressure to do so may have been taking a heavy mental, emotional, and physical toll on a particular officer. According to CNN, a police officer investigating a sexual assault case with an NBA star has been found dead. People are now looking into the circumstances surrounding this officer’s death.
The news of the death came on Friday. Nadine Hernandez was a veteran in the Los Angeles police department and was in her 19th year with them. CNN is reporting that Officer Hernandez was found dead at her home after a single gunshot wound to the chest. Officials are also reporting that as of right now, the death appears to be a suicide, but a final conclusion will be made after more information is gathered. A family member of hers is the one that called the police to report her death, and some information has been gathered that is leading police to believe that this was a suicide.
The death of Hernandez is also leaving many people to wonder whether or not this had any connection to the sexual assault case forming around Derrick Rose. As of right now, no information linking the two has come forward, but the possibility has not been completely ruled out yet. CNN is also reporting that the LAPD is going to continue on with the investigation is spite of the death of one of the officers on the case. As of right now, no criminal charges have been filed against Derrick Rose for the alleged sexual assault.
The death of anyone is a situation that is upsetting to most. Unfortunately this officer lost her life, but hopefully, the truth can be brought to the light in her case and the sexual assault case.
