New York Governor Andrew Cuomo came hard on Trump as he hit back on Wednesday to President’s threat to cut the federal funds to the city. He further added that the Republican President better has an army if he wants to walk through the streets of his home city.
During his press conference with news reporters, Cuomo said “From the point of view of New York City, he has been the worst president in history.” Further adding that ever since Trump has been elected, he has been actively trying to kill New York.
Cuomo argued that the underlying reason behind his approach is because his home city and its people have rejected his ideology and politics. His remarks came in response to an official memo the White House sent various Federal agencies ordering them to find ways to defund the federal fund.

Trump’s move aims to target several cities, including Washington, DC, Portland, Seattle, and New York City. In addition, the president has continuously criticized the Democratic-run cities as a central focus of his re-election campaign.
Meanwhile, the official memo said, “My Administration will not allow Federal tax dollars to fund cities that allow themselves to deteriorate into lawless zones.” It further accused the city authorities of allowing chaos, violence, and destruction.
However, Governor Cuomo categorically waved off the idea of the Trump administration, saying that there are many legal implications on what the federal government splash can. He further suggests the president think twice before returning to his home city of New York.
Contest: And what did he say after that? That’s right what he meant was Trump was persona non grata after everything he did to his now abandoned home town. Where was this faux outrage energy when Trump did 5th Ave. shooting comments? https://t.co/NkVPKqNBDc

But the social media responded differently, and Cuomo received heavy criticism. Soon, Rich Azzopardithe, media advisor of the governor, followed up on his comments and explained what he meant. Rich said that it meant President Trump was a persona non grata after everything he did to a city he once called his hometown.
Meanwhile, the mayor of the city, Bill de Blasio, also jumped into the on-going political spat. During his press conference on Thursday, he told Trump that his words carry no value because of an existing judgment of the country’s apex court on the issue.
He further added that the judgment cleared that a president cannot interfere in federal funding to the states and cities whenever he wants. Bill said cutting the funding amidst a pandemic crisis would hurt the city and vowed to defeat his administration in the courtroom.
The spat between the political rivals continued on Thursday, and Trump took to twitter twice to criticize Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic. Even though he himself has been severely criticized for his response to the outbreak, he accused New York Governor of badly handling the situation. In response, Cuomo called Trump a “bully.”
