The items in a two day auction held at Beverly Hills in California include things like, a Harley-Davidson owned by Marlon Brando and a couple of slices of the wedding cake served at the British royal wedding.
One such item that is up for bid is a famous dress that was worn by the style icon Marilyn Monroe. The troubled American actress and singer became famous in the 1950’s and 1960’s and was known for her iconic style and light blonde curls.
The dress was worn by Monroe while she was making her last film Something’s Got to Give that never got released. The figure tight dress has a beautiful red-rose floral print on an off-white background.
The executive director of Julien’s Auctions, Martin Nolan, said,
“It’s the last dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in her last movie, her last career-worn dress. The image of Marilyn wearing that dress was used by all of the national newspapers when they announced (her) tragic and untimely passing.”
It is estimated that the dress will earn about $300,000 to $500,000. This year’s annual auction will be held between the 26th and 27th of June.
