Geroge H.W. Bush, born on June 12, 1924, was the 41st President of the United States and left a lasting legacy and a political dynasty including his sons the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush and Former Florida Governor and Presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush.
Serving as President for one term, from 1989 to 1993, George H.W. Bush was the last President who was a veteran of World War II. George H.W. Bush was also the longest-lived President, with 39th President Jimmy Carter close behind, trailing only by a few months. Like many life-long couples, he passed just a few short months after losing his wife, Barbara Bush, in April of 2018. The two were married since 1945 and had 6 children together.
Several notable political icons have tweeted tributes to the late former President, which you can see a few below:
President Bush has left us for one last flight but his destination isn't unknown. He's flying into the arms of the love of his life, Barbara. This evening, each of us should take a minute to look up and offer him a silent thanks. FULL STATEMENT: https://t.co/XbuFYztrmg
