For many people lunch is the most exciting time of the day. From wraps to salads, lunch has more healthy options to offer than Whole Foods. While it may be tempting to whip out your tuna salad bagel with a side of potato chips, there are so many more options that are tasty and good for your body. So check out these four lunch foods that will make you and your body happy.
1) The classic sandwich
Honestly nothing beats a delicious sandwich, and luckily there are so many ways you can make yours healthy. Substitute bread thins (found in any grocery store) for regular old bread (less carbs), and instead of a fattening meat stick with lean turkey. Stack your sandwich high with sliced veggies. Add cheese and mayo if you’d like (you have to have something you love on it).
2) Soup and a potato
During winter indulging in a delicious, hot soup come noon is a must. Most soups are pretty healthy; just stay away from the creamy ones. Heat up a nice sweet potato on the side, sprinkle some cinnamon on it, and you’re ready to feast.
3) Yogurt parfait
If you’ve got a sweet tooth then a fruit parfait for lunch is a healthy indulgence. Cut up strawberries; throw in some blueberries, raspberries and any other kind of fruit you love and pour some delicious vanilla yogurt and granola over top.
4) The classic salad
If you’re going super healthy, then you can’t go wrong with a salad. Cut up all your favorite veggies (cucumbers, carrots, etc.), and even throw some fruit into the mix. Pick out your favorite dressing and voila. If you really don’t like lettuce try making a salad without it. Try mixing together some veggies you do like. Coat them with dressing, and you’re lettuce-less salad will be delicious (avocado is always a great add to anything).
