Work, classes and a social life can be hard to balance. Throw in studying, cleaning your house and cooking, and you’re booked solid until spring break. Sometimes busy days seem to dominate your life. Even Saturdays can entail errands and chores, and then comes evening and it’s time to go out and have fun (that takes up time too). Finding down time can be seemingly impossible. However, here are five ways to relax during your insanely busy day.
1) Listen to music
Listening to music isn’t always relaxing, but the right kind of tunes can make any boring activity less stressful, and more fun. Put some music on while cleaning your room, or if your doing a mundane task in your office at work. It’s sure to spice up your day in a good way.
2) Grab a coffee
If you’re always in a rush, slow down and stop at Starbucks to grab a coffee. Taking a moment for yourself to sit down and enjoy your drink can help calm your nerves, and give you a chance to breathe.
3) Watch Netflix
If you had absolutely no free time all day, take 30 minutes before you go to sleep and watch some Netflix. Even if you’re tired, watching your favorite show is a way to unwind after a long, stressful day in the office.
4) Go for a short walk
Take a moment during your lunch break (or right after work) to call a friend and walk around the block. Catching up with someone for 10 minutes, while enjoying the fresh air is extremely relaxing, and a good way to get out and about.
5) Exercise
While hitting the gym after a long day may not seem like relaxing (it really isn’t), it keeps you active and will make you feel a lot better about yourself. After your work out, hang out in the sauna for 10 minutes (now that is relaxation).
No matter what you choose to do, simply remember to slow down once in a while and enjoy life. Even if your schedule is packed, find a moment to sit back and relax. You’ll be happy you did.
