You’re not in Disneyland anymore.
Based on the 1973 science fiction Western thriller film of the same name (what a mouthful), Westworld is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Created for wealthy vacationers, Westworld is a completely immersive amusement park set in the wild wild west. Your “hosts” are actually robots, made to look like regular townspeople, and essentially guide you in your vacation, leading you to different adventures. The HBO website describes Westworld as someplace that “allows its visitors to live out their fantasies through artificial consciousness. No matter how illicit the fantasy may be, there are no consequences for the park’s guests, allowing for any wish to be indulged.” Behind this elaborate amusement park is a team of professionals, inventing storylines, creating the hosts, and sharpening their personalities for more in depth game play for the visitors.
This new HBO series features Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright and many more familiar faces. Not only is the cast comprised of A-list stars, writers and directors, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have a slew of films and televisions shows under their belt such as The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar, Pushing Daisies, and Burn Notice. Executive Producer J.J. Abrams has also had his fair share of success with films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Super 8, and the television show Lost.
