It’s the start of a new feature here on Rush Hour Daily! We are hitting the independent music scene and showcasing some of the talented people you might not have heard of before. Our premier Hidden Jam is perfect for ‘Pokemon Go’ fans: 22-year-old Philadelphia hip hop artist Jeremy Goldsmith, a.k.a. Internal Rhyme, combined all 151 of the original first-generation Pokemon into a 3-minute instant classic.

You might’ve heard of rappers in the past incorporating names of different Pokemon into clever punchlines, but not like this. Goldsmith flows through Poke-names without you even noticing, only to feel his clever wordplay hit you seconds later. This isn’t your older brother’s Pokerap.

The 9-bit sounding beat, sampled from the original game and produced by Andrew Meoray, is (as the kids say) “flame emoji.” Video production was done by Philly group Plum Creek Productions.

The music video has accumulated almost 14,000 views in less than 2 days, and is quickly turning viral every passing day. Check it out and decide for yourself:

I ended up getting ahold of Internal Rhyme and asked him a couple questions. Rush Hour Daily has the exclusive Q&A:

Q: Why do you rap/what do you rap for?

A: Hip-hop is the love of my love, and one of the only consistent things in my life that makes me happy.

Q: What is internal rhyme?

A: Internal Rhyme is a name I developed to express my favorite part of hip-hop, intricate rhyme schemes. I look up to artists like Nas, Elzhi, and Eminem who specialize in that.

Q: What would it mean to you if this vid was your first viral hit?

A: I’d be incredibly honored. I, along with my producer Andrew Meoray and videographers Plum Creek Productions spent hours upon hours perfecting this video. So overall, I would just be happy that its getting the love we felt it deserved.

Show Internal Rhyme some love and follow him on social media, he is sure to blow up soon, get in on the ground floor:
