Humphrey Asks RNC to Remove Trump from Ticket

It seems as if even more people are fighting Trumps nomination by the republican party. Politico’s official website is reporting that Gordon Humphrey, former GOP senator, is requesting that Donald Trump be replaced as the 2016 election nominee. Humphrey is reportedly fed up with Trump’s radical statements and thinks that if he is elected, there will be drastic consequences for the United States.

Humphrey has reportedly written a letter to the three representatives at the Republican National Convention (RNC) from New Hampshire. Politico is also reporting that in this letter, he asked the representatives to use the power the party’s rules gives them to replace their nominee. If the RNC was to do so, this move would be very controversial and upset many politicians of the party as well as many of their voters.

Humphrey’s letter and outrage stem from some comments Trump made towards Hillary Clinton very recently. While the nominee has made many aggressive and inappropriate comments towards Clinton, he recently suggested using gun violence to resolve the Clinton “issue.” Humphrey and many others believe that this mindset is dangerous for the party and for the country.

While the RNC does have the authority in the doctrines to replace Donald Trump as their nominee, one of the representatives has immediately rejected this idea.Politico also released a statement that Bergeron gave to them.

“While I have the greatest respect for Senator Humphrey, it is time to support the Republican candidate or we will be watching Hillary’s inauguration…That said, I do sometimes wish Mr. Trump would choose his words more carefully so they could not be misconstrued.”

The other two representatives have not released any statements at this time.

Trump has continuously stirred controversy and offended many individuals and groups of the nation as his campaign has progressed. The election is drawing closer and closer. As time continues, more and more people of the party are withdrawing their support of Trump. No matter who individuals support, everyone must do their best to help the country move towards the best possible future and vote.
