Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT

Mission Impossible Fallout was amazing. I’m not sure if it’s my favorite Mission Impossible movie but it’s still great and is one of my favorite movies of the year.

Critics have also praised the movie. With only 8 negative reviews out of 297 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an average rating of 8.3/10.

Fallout is a jam-packed, lightning-sounding, helicopter-turning, mark-removing blast. Tom Cruise is a like a super hero but all the action scenes are realistic.

Some might even think it’s the best action movie in years. I think that’s a reasonable belief. But I want to compare it to my other favorite action movies of the year: Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

In Black Panther, you have king ritual fight scenes and in Infinity War, there’s the action scenes at the end of the movie. Yes, Fallout definitely has better action scenes. Remember two words: helicopters, lightning!

Fallout is a better action movie than Black Panther and Infinity War. Unlike the two Marvel movies, it has the advantage and limitation of having scenes are that are mostly practical.

Though it’s not fair to say Fallout is just better because it’s more practical. After all, super heroes aren’t real and do require CGI to create unimaginable set pieces in movies.

The action in Fallout is not just more practical but it’s also just more intense. I was breathless while watching scenes from Fallout.

Black Panther had thrilling action but was more appealing to me was the diversity of the people fighting. While in Infinity War, the action was really fun, entertaining and breath-taking. It just didn’t have the shock of Fallout.

In Fallout, I was like this is really happening, so the realism of the scenes do play a role in the appeal of the movie. However, it’s more than just practicality that makes Fallout the best action movie of the year so far. I also doubt there will be a movie that comes later this year and has better action than Fallout. (Tom Cruise is our savior)

Fallout has great action but its story doesn’t surpass Infinity War or Black Panther. In terms of story, Fallout and Infinity War might be equals. Infinity War has a better villain and one of the most shocking endings of all-time. Personally, I give Infinity War the edge to Fallout but Fallout still has a respectable story.

Meanwhile, Black Panther is king because Killmonger is a great villain and brings brutal complexity to the narrative. Months after seeing Black Panther, I still can’t help but think about Killmonger’s message. Days after experiencing Fallout, I’m not thinking about its story.

I’m dreaming about two words: helicopters, lightning.
