For the last fourteen years, Jimmy Kimmel has hosted his own late night TV comedy show on ABC. The host reportedly has a contract that is expected to expire in 2019 and is considering retiring from the late night TV afterward.
Kimmel has spent seventy hours a week entertaining fans and interviewing top-A lister’s guest stars on his show.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live host commented to Variety that he knows he will do the show for another three years. He stated that it’s possible that after his contract is over, that will be it.
The comedian commented that he would like to have more free time since his wife is pregnant. The ABC comedy show host also commented that currently he has barely any free time as it is.
As the executive producer of his own show, Kimmel reportedly arrives in Hollywood studio’s at 9am and shoots the show around 5pm.
Jimmy Kimmel stated that his show feels right now like an ongoing marathon. The host commented that he wants to go out on his own terms.
The ABC comedy host also commented that if he feels like we’re repeating ourselves, he thinks it’s a good indication that it’s time to go.
Kimmel also stated that he will definitely miss the show when he retires. The comedy host commented that television is changing and he is getting different offers now to do different things.
At age 49, Kimmel commented that when he leaves the show it won’t be for another late night vehicle. He also stated that he is interested in writing a book one day.
Since Kimmel started his late night show, other popular TV hosts like Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert have been competing in a ratings race.
The longtime ABC host commented that once a month he tunes in to see what Colbert and Fallon are doing. Although Kimmel stated that likes to watch his competition for fun too.
