A report released that Jon Gosselin, from the the TLC show “Jon & Kate plus 8,” was working at a T.G.I.Fridays. What happened to the reality show money and DJ-ing? Did divorce court and custody battles wipe him out?
Jon & Kate Plus 8 (now just Kate Plus 8) premiered in 2007. The show was about a married couple who had already had a set of twins but decided to have a set of sextuplets. The show follows the family through daily activities. You though have a set of twins was difficult, imagine having six at once.
Even though the show follows children, it is not short of any drama. If you paid any attention to the parents in the equation, you could tell that something wasn’t okay. Two years into the show and a decade into their marriage, Jon and Kate filed for divorce. If the show pushed their marriage over the edge or it was bound to happen on its own, is unknown.
Jon claims that he is just working at the family chain restaurant just to help a friend. “I took the job at Friday’s because my friend needed help in the kitchen for the sauté line.” He says that his paychecks from Friday’s get donated to local children charities. “I don’t need the money. … DJ-ing is still my real job.”
Drama between Jon and Kate is still going on even though they are not “Plus 8” anymore. Jon claims that he isn’t allowed to see more than four kids at a time. He says that he hasn’t seen his son, Colin, in a year and a half.
“People are always like, ‘Oh, I would fight so hard [for a better custody arrangement].’ I’m like, ‘Honey, you don’t have the money to fight that hard. Do you know how expensive court is? You have no idea.’ All the filings—and I do my own filings, then submit them to a law firm for stamp of approval—I have to pay for that,”
Is Jon really using the Friday’s job to help save money to go back to the courts. Maybe he doesn’t want Kate to know or does he really just like passing the time with other people’s families? We may never know for sure.
