President Donald Trump has vowed to defeat the ‘’radical left’’ during his July 4th independence day speech at White House, strongly condemning recent efforts to remove or deface statues of American historical figures as attempts to destroy the United States.
Ahead of Trump’s speech demonstrators also gathered nearby. Meanwhile, his Democratic rival in November’s elections, Joe Biden, said that everyone deserved a full share of the ‘’American Dream’’. Saturday’s July 4 event marks the country’s declaration of independence in 1776 from Britain.
In the past, presidents have often used Independence Day speeches extolling the virtues of national unity. In 2019, at an event with a militaristic theme that also involved air force flyovers, Trump enthusiastically spoke of the country’s ‘’extraordinary heritage’’.

In his July 4 speech, Trump did not refer to the 130,000 deaths linked to the coronavirus pandemic. He said that country has so far tested nearly 40 million people and claimed that 99 percent of the coronavirus cases were harmless, a claim for which he presented no evidence.
