Set to become a free agent next year, many execs have been trying to get a read on the intentions of 2-time All-Star Kemba Walker. Walker grew up in the Bronx, and as such, many have speculated that he may eventually return to New York to be the starting point guard for the Knicks. However, this may just be a pipe dream.
According to sources, Kemba Walker has no intention of leaving the Charlotte Hornets come next season. Michael Scotto from the Athletic stated that the star guard intends to stay in Charlotte for “a long time.”
“As far as seeing me in New York, I doubt it,” said Walker. “I’m a Hornet, and I’m planning on being a Hornet for a long time; so, yeah, I’m not sure about that.”

Despite his loyalty to the Hornets, New York will always hold a special place in Walker’s heart.
Walker spoke a little bit about the importance of the Big Apple to him, saying:
“It means a lot, it means everything, Without New York, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I know what these kids go through on a daily basis. I’ve grown up the same way they have, but you know I just stayed on the right path of school, hard work, basketball, and just being a good person and I made it out.”
The former NCAA champion has had a knack for playing in his hometown. When playing the Knicks, Kemba averages 20.5 points, 4.7 assists, 3.8 rebounds, to go along with a 28.8 usage percentage.
It’s a shame that Walker won’t consider the Knicks, as Kemba has had some of the most memorable moments at MSG in both his professional and college careers.

Whether Walker stays in Charlotte or has a change of heart before he hits the free agency market, he is poised to establish himself as a top-level scoring talent in the NBA.
