When a resident of Atlanta, Georgia named Therra Gwyn Jaramillo went into her local Whole Foods to buy some groceries, she didn’t expect something amazing to happen.

Jaramillo has been struggling financially ever since her husband lost his battle with brain cancer in 2014. When Jaramillo entered Whole Foods, she apparently had almost nothing in her kitchen with which to feed herself. She also has to support her four rescued dogs, two rescued cats, and her blind chicken named Dixie.

As Jaramillo was down to almost nothing in her bank account, Jaramillo’s friend purchased her a $250 gift card to Whole Foods to aid with her financial troubles. Jaramillo headed to the grocery store “with a dream of hummus and fresh food.”

Distraught after a stressful month, Jaramillo miscalculated how much her groceries would cost. She realized while she was standing in the checkout line that there was not enough money on her gift card to pay for all the items that she intended to purchase.

Jaramillo frantically asked the cashier to stop ringing up the groceries, claiming that some of them had gotten mixed in with the customer in front of her. Realizing that she couldn’t afford the bill, the kind citizen offered to pay for her items, saying, “I got this. All of this, don’t put anything back.”

Little did she know that this good Samaritan was 3-time Grammy Award-winning rapper Ludacris. The Atlanta native paid the entire $375 bill for Ms. Jaramillo.

“I kept looking at him, and thinking, this man is an angel,” said Jaramillo.

Ludacris’ kindness extended beyond his wallet. After paying for the food, he told Jaramillo:

“They’ll make sure you get all this out to your car, OK? Do you need any help?”

Jaramillo immediately burst into tears. She said that she was crying so much that she “wouldn’t have even been able to recognize Elvis.”

Ludacris helped out a person in need, and Jaramillo plans to follow this example.

“I know I’m gonna do it. Pay it forward,” she said. “We can, every one of us, do SOMEthing for others. You never know a stranger’s full story when you reach out a hand and yank them into a better place.”
