Man Threatens American Citizens Speaking Spanish in New York Restaurant

All of it was caught on video, on Tuesday, May, 15th, as the man yelled at the manager regarding Spanish speakers within the restaurant.

Among other problematic comments, he yelled, “Your staff is speaking Spanish to customers when they should be speaking English. Every person I listen to: He spoke it, he spoke it, she’s speaking it. This is America!” he says. “It’s America. So my next call is to ICE to have each one of them kicked out of my country.”

Ignorance like this happens on a daily basis, under the acknowledgment of the entire nation, just because it is not caught on camera. What we see in this video, the blatant disrespect and oblivion this man displays for Latinos in our country, is a disappointment and the reality of our society.

He goes on to declare that he is the reason for their way of life in America. “If they have the balls to come here and live off my money, I pay for their welfare. I pay for their ability to be here. The least they can do… is speak English.” The customers and employees weren’t even speaking to him. Nothing had to do with him, so why did he bring himself into the situation?

Well, I am sorry sir, but this is America. And they are rightfully here, and you are rightfully oblivious.

This was apparently not the first incident involving this Schlossberg man. Willie Morris recognized the man whom he had a run-in with not too long ago, in 2016. He had made eye-contact on the street and immediately, things went downhill from there. In the video, Schlossberg can be seen asking Morris, “What country are you from? I’m going to call the police. You don’t run into me. I’m a citizen here, you’re not. You’re an ugly f***ing foreigner, F*** you.” Morris was born in Massachusetts. He eventually just walked away, but Morris was shaken by the incident.

About Furaha Njoroge

A little about me. I have been writing since my 2nd grade teacher praised my writing and recommended me for a writing program, in which my articles were published. Ever since then, I have just been writing short stories, and about prevalent things that occur within my life. Besides these, my hobbies include watching Scandal and Friends :), reading a good book that both challenges me and makes me laugh, and hanging with my best friends in the Claremont Village or the city (Both Atlanta and LA).
