I have seen Ant Man and the Wasp and it exceeded my expectations. Before the movie’s release, it had the same percentage of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes as the original but now it has surpassed the original in good reviews.
I also agree with this positivity towards the film. It’s a fun emotional adventure that does have stakes and right now I think it’s better than the original Ant-Man. For one, it has a better villain and Evangeline Lily’s Wasp is a great addition to the MCU.
If anything she should be more featured as the franchise continues.
Meanwhile, the first MCU movie Iron Man was released when I was 9 and Ant-Man and the Wasp is the first MCU movie I have seen since I’ve turned 20. I’ve grown up in this universe and is great to see it become more diverse.
There are 20 MCU movies. Most are good and more than a handful are great. Here’s my current list from most favorite to least.
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Black Panther
- Spider-Man: Homecoming
- Captain America: Civil War
- Doctor Strange
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Ant-Man and the Wasp
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier
- Iron Man
- Captain America: The First Avenger
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume Two
- Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Iron Man 3
- The Incredible Hulk
- Iron Man 2
- Thor: The Dark World
Guardians of the Galaxy just has a better cast of characters. Meanwhile, Thor: Ragnarok might be funnier and have Thor and the Hulk, it’s just not as emotional and human as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Ragnarok sometimes choosing comedy over drama at the wrong time, more often than the Ant-Man sequel does.
