Valerie Fairman, one of the stars of popular MTV series 16 and Pregnant has been confirmed dead by the Chester County coroner’s office. The reality star was only twenty-three years old.
The young woman was reportedly found dead around five pm ET on Wednesday in Caln Township, PA. Fairman’s cause of death has yet to be determined and is currently being investigated by the Coatsville police.
MTV has also confirmed the rumors of Fairman’s death. She appeared on the second season of 16 and Pregnant in 2009-2010.
An MTV spokesperson stated that they are saddened by the news of Fairman’s passing. The spokesperson also commented that their thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.
Valerie Fairman appeared on the MTV show after becoming pregnant during her sophomore year in high school. The young woman’s struggle with substance abuse was documented on the series.
In September 2009, she gave birth to her daughter, Nevaeh Lynn Fairman. Her daughter is now seven years old.
Since her appearance on the reality TV series, TMZ has reported on Fairman’s several run-ins with the law. Reportedly a week before her death Fairman was arrested for giving false identification and resisting arrest.
MTV’s documentary-style reality show 16 and Pregnant aired from 2009 to 2014. Each episode showcased a different teen dealing with their pregnancy.
The show’s popularity has created three spinoff series, Teen Mom, Teen Mom 2, and Teen Mom 3. Other women who also starred on the show have commented their condolences to Fairman’s family.
Chelsea DeBoer tweeted that her heart goes out to her daughter and family. Jenelle Evans also tweeted out to her fans for them to not to take their own lives for granted. She also stated for them to hold your children and love them close.
Currently, Valerie’s daughter Nevaeh is currently staying with her grandmother, Janice Fairman.
