Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda, confirmed in a reply to a fan on Twitter that there would be no more Fallout 4 DLC after the release of August’s Nuka-World expansion. As Hines succinctly put it, Nuka world is the “last one.”

The news comes as a disappointment to some Fallout fans, as all of the game’s DLC packages were available to purchase at launch with the “Season Pass,” effectively a pre-purchase of all future downloadable content. Some of that add-on content has been relatively minor additions to the game, including the Wasteland Workshop and Contraptions Workshop packs. These packs only added to an optional portion of the game, Fallout 4’s settlement building feature.
While the other three packs of the game have been more substantial, including March’s Automatron, May’s Far Harbor, and the upcoming August’s Nuka-World, some fans feel the content delivered hasn’t lived up to the price tag of the Season Pass. The bundle was originally set at $30 and only included the first three content packs. When Bethesda decided to add two more, the price was upped to $50, though original purchasers of the pass were not required to pony up $20 more.
Despite middling reviews of its add-on content, Fallout 4 has enjoyed a very successful first year thus far. Critic reviews for the game were largely positive, and it received numerous game of the year awards at the end of 2015. As with all Bethesda games, the modding community among players has been vibrant and bursting with original content. For the first time, these player-made additions will soon be available on consoles as well as PC.
Additional support for the game is expected beyond the Nuka-World release in August, including bug fixing and minor gameplay updates. But for the moment, it appears that Bethesda wants to move on to new projects, which Fallout 4 director Todd Howard has described in the past as being “big and crazy.”
