The extreme Islamic Terrorist group Boko Haram is one of the deadliest organizations in Nigeria and according to The Guardian; they are responsible for over 2000 around the town of Baga.

“If reports that the town was largely razed to the ground and that hundreds or even as many as 2,000 civilians were killed are true, this marks a disturbing and bloody escalation of Boko Haram’s ongoing onslaught against the civilian population,” said Daniel Eyre, Nigeria researcher for Amnesty International, via USA Today.

When the group drove into Baga, which is located near the border of Chad, most people that were killed were women, children and the elderly, due to the fact that they were unable to outrun their attackers. Rockets were fired as well as grenades, as they shot with assault riffles at the residents.

“The human carnage perpetrated by Boko Haram terrorists in Baga was enormous,” Muhammad Abba Gava, a spokesman for poorly armed civilians in a defense group that fights Boko Haram, told the Associated Press.

Bodies are littered across the surrounding areas, impossible to count due to the damage. The US State Department stated that the Boko Haram group has absolutely no regard for human life and will be held accountable for their horrific actions.

“Even in the face of these horrifying attacks, terrorist organizations like Boko Haram must not distract Nigeria from carrying out credible and peaceful elections that reflect the will of the Nigerian people,” the statement reads.

This attack is the deadliest ever completed by the Boko Haram group.
