Poh, a fifteen year-old mixed breed dog, was diagnosed quite recently with a terminal illness. No sooner did his owner find out that Poh’s days were numbered, he decided on a cross-country trip with his pet.
Thomas Neil Rodriguez took his dog all across the States for one last Hurrah! Rodriguez said,
“It was a great trip. I got to spend seven weeks with Poh. At first, I did not think he’d make it two weeks, but he did.”
Poh was adopted from an animal shelter in 1999 of December, when he was just 8 weeks young. Together, both Poh and Rodriguez crossed-off many places from their bucket list. When asked about his pet’s sickness, Rodriguez said,
“I would say sometime in February he started to get sicker. I travel quite a bit but we came back from one trip and he was doing really bad. I’m unsure of how long he will live. Doctors are unsure. My assumption is that I don’t have very long with him and that’s what prompted the trips.”
In an interview, Rodriguez described the trips by saying,
“He loved it. It was so healing for him. It was like he was five years younger. He was walking with a lot of energy. It was a little bit for him, a little bit for me.”
The dog’s adventures are documented on his very own Instagram page called ‘pohthedogsbigadventure.’
