Police Warn Against a New Viral Dance Featuring Drake’s “In My Feelings”

There is a new dance craze that police around the world are urging people against due to the potential dangers involved in the dance.

Coined the “Kiki Challenge” or the “#InMyFeelings” challenge is a new viral dance accompanying rapper Drake’s hit song In My Feelings.

The dance features individuals jumping out of moving vehicles and dancing alongside them to the hit while a passenger films.

But the issue goes beyond just jumping out of moving vehicles. According to The Guardian, videos uploaded to the internet feature dancers either injuring themselves, getting hit by other cars or being robbed.

Some videos of the dances uploaded to the internet show oblivious dancers crashing into poles, tripping on potholes or falling out of the cars. One video shows a woman having her handbag stolen while attempting the challenge and another shows a man being hit by a car while he dances.

Internet comedian Shiggy first popularized the dance when he posted a video to Instagram of himself dancing to the song. Since the upload, people around the world have posted videos attempting the challenges.

The challenge even spread to celebrities some of which include Ciara, Will Smith and BTS member J-Hope.

But regardless of the attention surrounding the dance, police still say the dance is dangerous, and anyone caught attempting it can face criminal charges. For example, The Guardian reported some police sanctions:

Police in Spain have warned drivers against the dance, saying they could be charged if caught and Florida drivers were warned that jumping out of a moving car and dancing alongside it could see people hit with $1000 of fines as well as possible criminal charges.

But as with most viral challenges, warnings and sanctions can only do so much. People are still attempting #KikiChallenge and show no signs of stopping any time soon.

“In My Feels” received great attention commercially upon its release on July 10, but since the challenge, the song skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard dethroning the Kiki, do you love me? rapper’s other song, “Nice For What.”
