Even though Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been nothing but welcoming and supportive of the U.S. Justice Department’s investigation of the city’s police department, protesters are calling for his resignation.

Since the tape release of the police shooting killing Laquan McDonald lots of other videos and information has been shared with the public, causing chaos in Chicago.
Yesterday the city of Chicago released yet another tape, showing the moment when police officers and prison guards used excessive force on a prisoner. 38-year-old Philip Coleman died 12 hours after the tasing. Medical reports claimed that he had died from severe reactions to an antipsychotic drug given to him at the hospital. According to the same medical report, Coleman had dozens of bruises and abrasions on his body including a fractured rib when he died.
17-year-old Cedrick LaMont Chatman was killed by police in January 2013. The incident was recorded on four different cameras and the killing was unjustified, a former investigator said after watching the footage.
A federal judge will decide on Wednesday, December 9, if the footage of Chatman’s murder should be released to the public. Four cameras caught the shooting, one at a food market, one at a school and two placed on light poles by policemen. The footage from the school captured the whole incident.
“Chicago as a city will be better for it. We accept it, and we need it,” Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said on Monday, December 7, referring to welcoming the U.S. Justice Department’s investigations of the city police. Now his city is asking him to step down.
