Many people have been hearing news of Zero Gravity Day, which is supposed to hit on January 4, 2015, right as the New Year is welcomed. It has been rumored that on this day, for a short period of time Earth’s gravity will be temporarily lowered and citizens of Earth will be able to feel the lack of gravity. While many people are skeptical if this is true, professionals are insisting that you should not believe the hype.
The alignment will allow Earth, Jupiter, and Pluto to witness an event that is truly remarkable and rare. This will leave the remainder of the planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, to be perfectly aligned as well. The gravitational forces of these planets is said to cause the normal disruption of our usual gravitational fields.
The story has been floating all over social media, but just two days before the day where many were expecting to float themselves, people are going online and assuring us all that it is actually a hoax. NASA has stated that they have nothing to do with the messages that have been sent out on social media and that people have altered their tweets.
“January 4, 9:47 AM PST, the long awaited planetary alignment will cause a gravitational fluctuation that will leave you weightless for a short period of time #beready.”
The tweet did look official, so it caused countless people to believe that they will be weightless for a brief moment in time, but this is reportedly not true, and has disappointed plenty of people who wanted to feel like there are traveling in space.
