Former Vice President runner, Sarah Palin, has had her fair share of criticism over the years. From Tina Fey on SNL to constant media backlash on pretty much anything she says.
This time she has said, “I don’t give a flying flip about what gender the person will be,” Palin stated. “I want the absolute best because America deserves the best, in terms of leadership, getting this country on the right track.”
Some are wondering why Palin is still being looked to for a statement, as many people find her political status slim to non-existent. The same goes for the hosts of The View who addressed her, “as a sitcom where you’re like “wow, that’s still on the air?”
Less than a third of Americans claim that they too don’t care if there were a female president and that number had risen over the past few decades. Way back when, a female running for Presidential Office was not only considered unheard of, but almost a joke. In today’s society, this is no longer a joke, but a real opportunity coming to life. It’s getting there, but not quite complete. For a female to sit in the big chair, more women are going to need to care more in order to make this “joke” a reality.
Perhaps the idea is now in peoples heads that a women can hold high office, which is great progress, now we just need to improve the “care” factor to really sit a lady as Commander and Chief.
Check out the clip below and see how “The View” depicts the issue.
