According to a Saudi Information Ministry statement, “the kingdom is making unexpected decisions these days by giving women more rights. The decision was made in a program started in the past two years called “ Vision 2030” under the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who was responsible for the first decision made on women’s driving in Saudi Arabia. Following this decision, the Saudi Justice Ministry revealed a form that was sent that the courts cleared that in case of divorce a woman is responsible for custody of her children.
The goal behind this rule is to open up the door to women to act freely in society with no respected rules. Comparing Saudi Arabia with other countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Egypt based on this decision, Saudi Arabia will provide more gender equality in divorce. This decision may have effects on the population in the future.
