Shooting at Munich Mall Leaves Several Dead

It seems like every other day there is another one of these headlines, but here we are again: earlier today, Friday, July 22nd, at least one shooter opened fire inside a Mcdonald’s restaurant located at the Olympia mall in Munich, Germany. The shooting began at 11:50 E.T. (5:50 PM local time), and the shooter (or shooters, it is still unknown at this point in time), is still on the run.

It is not known how many are dead or injured at the moment, but Claudia Küntzel, Munich police spokeswoman had this to say: “There could be several dead and one or even several shooters are on the loose.” The lack of information truly magnifies the terror of this situation.

This is still a developing story as the Munich Police force do their best to contain the situation, but for now at least, the sound of gunfire has ceased, but not before the unfortunate loss of life occurred.

The Olympia mall is located in the northern part of Munich, not too far from the capital. So far this appears to be an isolated incident, but more information will be posted as it happens, check back frequently. US citizens currently in Munich have been advised to seek shelter by the consulate.
