The Simpsons has reportedly been renewed for its 29th and 30th seasons on Fox. The renewal has made The Simpsons the longest running scripted series of all time.

The animated sitcom is set to have 669 episodes with their 30th season, which breaks TV record for the most episodes created in any scripted show. The record before was held by legendary western TV series Gunsmoke. The longtime western aired from 1955 to 1975, which had 635 episodes.

Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, and Al Jean act as the show’s executive producers. Since The Simpsons debut in 1989, Fox has had 28 years of successful ratings.

Walden and Newman stated that The Simpsons has carried their network to worldwide audiences. Walden and Newman stated the series is a large testament to the combined brilliance of the show’s executive producers.

The chairman and CEO of Fox also thanked Simpson fans all over the world for watching all these years. They also teased that there is a lot more coming for the popular Simpsons family.

The Simpsons has won over 32 Emmys and nabbed an Academy Award Nomination in 2012. The series has also earned a 2016 People’s Choice Award and a 2016 Environmental Media Award. The Simpsons is also the first animated series ever to win a Peabody Award.

The Simpson’s have ranked an average 7.2 million viewers on TV and other video streaming platforms. The Simpsons 600th episode aired on October 16th, which brought the largest audience to the series since early 2016.

The Simpsons has its own ride at Universal Studio’s theme park and an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Simpsons Movie was also a box office hit in 2007, which earned over 527.9 million dollars worldwide.
