A 49-year-old female sky diver unfortunately perished while diving in northern England after her parachute failed to open.
Paramedics sprinted for the scene of the crash on Saturday in Shotton Colliery, County Durham, after the sky diver fell from the air craft. Identified as Pamela Gowzer, a sky diver with dwarfism, she had been noted to have a passion for sky diving.
The female sky diver was taken to the nearby town of Hebburn, where she unfortunately passed away due to her injuries.
Detective Inspector Dave Cuthbert said the death was “a tragic incident.” “The lady who has died was using her own equipment and was making her first sky dive in this country, having previously made parachute jumps abroad,” he added.
Cuthbert stated that police would be working with safety authorities as well as the British Parachuting Association to determine why the parachute may have malfunctioned.
In a strange string of tragedies, two sky divers also died last month when their parachutes failed to open after a tandem jump.
