Taylor Swift is clearly in a large amount of pain, as the singer went to social media to tell her fans and the press the sad news about her mother being diagnosed with cancer.
Swift went to Tumblr where the singer writes, “For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine. She agreed, and went in to get checked. The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know.”
Swift explained to her fans why she might not be at many shows this year because she is starting a journey, which will force her to battle possible the scariest scenario anyone would have to face.
Swift, and her mother, then also encouraged fans to push for their own parents to get checked out, so they can catch any potential threats early; Swift writes, She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they’ve got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle… Or peace of mind in knowing that they’re healthy and there’s nothing to worry about.”
Swift then ended her post by thanking her fans and by showing her appreciation by stating, “Thank you for caring about my family so much that she would want me to share this information with you. I hope and pray that you never get news like this.”
News like this is devastating for any child to hear about their parents. Many fans will hopefully understand that the singer’s schedule might not be as full with appearances or tour dates if she needs to tend to her mother’s side. Her fans truly wish the best for Swift, and that her mother recovers from her cancer.
