The Chinese Embassy released a government statement last week, issuing a warning to those traveling to the United States. Due to rising tensions over trade between China and the United States, the statement warns travelers about increased shootings, robberies, and theft. Also, tourists should “be alert to suspicious people around you” and avoid going out at night.

THE CHINESE EMBASSY WARNS CITIZENS ABOUT POSSIBLE DANGERS

The statement mentions that “American public security is not sufficient.” In 2016, when a student was shot in Arizona, the same Embassy warned Chinese travelers to steer away from “crime scenes and tough neighborhoods.”

The declaration brings up other topics such as the high cost of getting medical treatment in the United States.

The statement reads:

“United States medical expenses are expensive, should be based on their own health, economic conditions to buy medical care, personal accidents, and other insurance.”

The Embassy also informed travelers about the powers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and included a section on protecting oneself during terrorist attacks.

SINCE THE TRAVEL BAN, THERE HAS BEEN A DECREASE IN TOURISM

Since 2016, nearly three million Chinese citizens have vacationed in the United States. However, after the “Trump Slump” phenomenon– Trump’s travel ban– visits to America have decreased.

Lu Kang, Foreign Ministry spokesman, commented that the Chinese government was fulfilling their duty to inform travelers about “potential dangers.”
