Fox has decided against giving “The Mindy Project” another season. However, fans don’t need to be sad because Hulu has picked up the show for at least another season. Mindy Kaling told The Hollywood Reporter that
“I do think there’s more to tell, and I think fans would be disappointed not to see more adventures with these characters. But I came from a show [The Office] that I was on for eight seasons, and it continued for another year after that, so I am accustomed to long runs of television shows. I would be up for that challenge.”
Before Hulu made the offer Kaling was thinking about heading over to TBS because Kevin Reilly was in control at that station. Reilly used to be the president of Fox when “The Mindy Project” got the first green light, so heading over to someone who believed in the show in the beginning made sense. Now though when the show goes up on Hulu fans will be able to stream whenever and where ever they please.
More and more people watch television on the internet now anyways, so “The Mindy Project” is sort of just adapting to the times. With services like Hulu and Netflix watching television programs are becoming more convenient for the viewer.
