Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in Australia where they are shooting for a film.
Hanks, 63 years old, is an award-winning actor who was currently working with Baz Luhrmann’s Untitled production regarding the Elvis Presley.
They announced their diseases to the world and their fans via their Instagram on Wednesday itself. It was the same day when they were diagnosed positive of coronavirus.
According to one of his Instagram post on Thursday, he said that he was feeling a bit tired like having colds. And after that, they arranged to get themselves tested for the virus and were found to be positive.
He also mentioned that his wife Rita was going through some chills that just came and went along with a slight fever. Looking at the current situation of the world, as things are going on, they got themselves tested and were found positive of coronavirus.
Both the actors opined that they should be tested, observed, and should be isolated as long as it is required as per the public health and safety requirements.
In his post, Tom Hanks showed a positive attitude and has confirmed that they have decided to isolate themselves unless told otherwise.
Hanks is now in Australia, and he was filming a movie where he was playing the role of Presley’s manager. The name of his character was Tom Parker. This film was being directed by Baz Luhrmann, and the production had decided to set to begin the movie on Monday. But now, as per the current situation of Tom and Rita, it is likely to get postponed.
According to a statement in the New York Times, Warner Bros said that “The health and safety of our company members are always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world,”
As of this, there have been reported more than 125000 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the world. Also, reportedly, the number of deaths has been more than 4600. The United States has 1220 reported cases, and Australia has 128 cases.
The coronavirus crisis has led to the cancellation of many important events. Many tech gatherings and cultural gatherings have been canceled. The NBA has announced that it would suspend the season followed by the Utah Jazz Player, who has been tested positive of coronavirus.
According to Hanx’s post on Instagram, Tom Hanks and his wife were feeling a sensation of cold and light fever accompanied by some tiredness, after which they decided to get themselves tested. This news has been further confirmed by one of the representatives of Hanks on CNN and no additional comment.
The actor has told that he is isolating himself while the process of his recovery and would continue to do so and unless directed otherwise by the World Health Organization.
