The debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton has been the subject of much discussion over the past several days. Though opinions of who really came out on top at the event are split, Trump is once again getting a lot of attention for his statements. According to CNN, Trump is boasting about his debate performance. This news has those who feel like Clinton did better very confused and upset.
The news emerged from a Tuesday night debate rally. CNN is reporting that Trump is claiming that he was holding back at this first debate, as he did not want to completely belittle or embarrass Hillary Clinton. CNN reports that Trump said the following:
“For 90 minutes I watched her very carefully, and I was also holding back. I didn’t want to do anything that embarrassed her… I kept saying for 26 years you’ve done nothing. She’s the candidate of yesterday and ours is the campaign.”
Trump is not only commenting on the debate by criticizing Clinton, but he is also commenting on other parties involved with the debate. CNN is also reporting that Trump is making some unfriendly comments towards the debate moderator Lester Holt. Trump is claiming that the NBC employee was on Clinton’s side and that the media is the only advantage that she has over Donald Trump. This claim has Clinton supporters very upset as Clinton took a serious beating from the media with her email scandal and FBI investigation.
The first debate is causing a lot of controversy among the campaign teams as well as the voters of the United States. The candidates are both trying to do their best to appeal to the portion of voters that have not yet decided who they want to be the next president of the United States. The next debate will only further show what the candidates will be able to do when one of them gets elected.
