President Donald Trump already seems to be preparing for his 2020 campaign, as he has apparently gathered $53 million for its funding. This makes Trump much more advantaged than any other candidate who may decide to run. $33 million came directly from Trump’s bank account, and the remaining $20 million has been raised by Republican fundraising committees.
Trump’s re-election campaign, which is separate from the two committees, has raised $8.3 million so far. His two joint committees with the Republican National Committee, which focus both on substantial and small donations to his campaign, have gathered $17.7 million.
When taking all of this into account, Trump has gathered almost $90 million.
The largest donation his campaign has received so far came from a Dallas banker, who gave the substantial-contribution committee almost $340,000. Most other donations have allegedly been lower than two hundred dollars each. This could indicate that citizens, rather than big investors, could be crucial to the development and funding of Trump’s re-election campaign.
This does not mean that Trump’s campaign isn’t spending a large part of those funds. They have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on legal fees and over a million dollars on online consulting.
Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law and one of his re-election campaign’s senior advisers, stated:
“We are thrilled with the continued support of so many Americans who resoundingly approve of Donald Trump’s performance as President. The American people clearly see how hard President Trump is working to reclaim their jobs lost to bad trade deals, increase their take home pay through historic tax cuts, and make their communities safer through his immigration enforcement and initial work to build the wall.”
This information was distributed through disclosures, which also revealed some of the president’s other expenses. According to the document, the president has spent over eighty thousand dollars in “lodging.” Said funds were spent at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, and Trump’s Washington hotel.
