After the 19-month-old red panda, Sunny, went missing on Tuesday, the Virginia Zoo began to work with Norfolk Police Department and a geothermal camera to search the facility.
The last time Sunny was seen was on Monday at around 5 p.m. By Tuesday’s morning check, Sunny had gone missing from her enclosure.
According to National Geographic, the endangered red panda, typically found in trees, has thick, reddish-brown fur and carries a bushy tail. Additionally, they move around a lot more at night and can grow to be about the size of a house cat.
According to a recent blog entry by the zoo, workers hope that Sunny is still on the grounds of the facility; in case Sunny is not at the zoo, the entry also gives information on what to do if Sunny is spotted, where she might be if she did run off, how she got out, and how far she could have traveled.
